At this time, I became a University Professor. I have been engaged in fundamental research and education in the fields of high polymer chemistry and molecular histochemistry at the School of Engineering Kyushu University. After that, I got involved in various research projects including projects of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research and worked to promote industry-university collaboration in the Kitakyushu area.
It has become much clearer that creativity, not wealth and power, should be the driving force of society in the future. A broad knowledge which can be the foundation of creativity is indispensable. The meaning of higher education, especially the universities' existence is providing ways to use wisdom and nurture the necessary talented people. The potential of Kyushu University is huge. I will be very glad if my experience can provide any help for the work, such as nurturing tenure track researchers and education, which are the roles of the Institute for Advanced Study.
