Prof. Takehiko Sasazuki became a newly member of the Japan Academy
The Japan Academy newly elected scholars to the membership of the Japan Academy on December 12, 2019. Prof.Takehiko Sasazuki, University Professor of Institute for Advanced Study of Kyushu University, was elected in Section II, Seventh Subsection.
The Japan Academy is an organization that accords special recognition to researchers with the most eminent records of academic and scientific achievement in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The members of that are special national civil personnels, the term is eternal. The new members are seven, including of Prof. Takaaki Kajita, Nobel Laureate and the Director of Institute for Cosmic Ray research University of Tokyo.
Prof. Takehiko Sasazuki made clear and had attacked Infection or complication diseases. These research results was appraised highly by the Japan Academy.
He assumed Professor of Medical Institute of Bioregulation of Kyushu University on 1983, inaugurated as its director of there on 1990, and Director of the Research Institute of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine on 2001.
After that he was President of the National Center for Global Health and Medicine on 2004, and he assumed President Emeritus of there on 2008.
From 2009, he is University Professor of Institute for Advanced Study of Kyushu University, and he has researched Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas, by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, “Production, function and structure of neo-self”. And now, he has been appointed as University Professor who have excellent research achievements or outstanding international cooperation activities to contribute to fostering young researchers with self-standing and wide point of view.
I am very honored to be elected as a member of The Japan Academy on December 12, 2019. I heartily thank all people who educated, activated and encouraged me to continue the academic life. I elucidated the presence of human immune response genes and analyzed their critical role in the etiology of immune related diseases including autoimmune disease, allergy and graft versus host disease. I will certainly continue my life in academia to contribute to science and humanity. |
