Fostering Young Researchers who will Create a New Academic Discipline
|
Introduction
Kyushu University's vision of itself in 2030 is one of a university that attracts excellent researchers, accelerates research and innovation that lead to new value creation, and uses integrative knowledge that fuses the entire spectrum of knowledge to solve social problems and forge new social and economic systems. In short, a university that drives social change with integrative knowledge. To accomplish this, the university reconstructed the Institute for Advanced Study as a university-wide base for acquiring and fostering excellent researchers. In addition, by utilizing the accumulated knowledge, the university will implement Inamori Frontier Program, which aims to recruit and foster excellent young researchers.
This program will hire up to five outstanding young researchers who are aiming to develop original and ambitious research each year as Associate Professors on a five-year fixed-term contract. We will provide them with the environment and treatment that would allow them to devote themselves to research as independent PIs, thereby strategically producing researchers who will lead their respective research fields. Through this program, the university aims to boost its global presence. After the end of the five-year term, based on the results of the final evaluation, candidates who are evaluated as particularly outstanding will be hired as Professors at the Institute for Advanced Study. The plan is to make the Institute for Advanced Study a "knowledge platform" where top-level researchers interact across the boundaries of age and field and create synergies that will lead to the development of new academic fields and the international brain circulation. The Inamori Frontier Program, established with these objectives and plans, is open to applicants regardless of research field, gender, or nationality.
We look forward to receiving applications from motivated young researchers who will lead the next generation.
