What do animals see, and what does that tell us about how they think?
I address this question by comparing humans, primates, and birds. Drawing on the idea that “the eyes are the window to the mind,” I focus on gaze—where an individual looks—as a way to study cognition in natural behavior. Where we look refl ects what we attend to, what we expect, and how we understand our urroundings. By combining natural observation with eye-tracking, drone recording, and AI-based analysis, I investigate the mental processes that shape behavior in social groups and natural environments.

Message

Looking is something many animals, including humans, share. By studying gaze, I aim to better understand how intelligence develops within social life. From Kyushu University, I hope to contribute new interdisciplinary perspectives on social cognition.
