Coordination Chemistry
His study aims to develop molecular systems that convert renewable energy, such as sunlight, into chemical energy. Especially, he focuses on water splitting consisting of hydrogen/oxygen evolution and carbon dioxide reduction reactions catalyzed by metal complexes having a variety of ligand systems and metal ions. Through advanced electrochemical reaction analysis for homogeneous solutions and quantum chemical calculations, he seeks to elucidate the factors controlling activity and to establish design guidelines for molecular catalysts, thereby challenging the development of highly active catalysts.
Message
I would like not only to develop the basic science of molecular catalysis induced by the unique electronic states discovered in the course of pursuing coordination chemistry, but also to apply these molecular catalysts developed at Kyushu University to society.Brief History
